Engagement photo shoot in New York.

I HAVE BEEN TO NEW YORK BEFORE “THE CITY THAT NEVER SLEEPS” BUT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT I WAS THERE WORKING, SPECIFICALLY ON THE WEDDING PHOTOS OF SANDRA AND MARCO. THE COUPLE HELD THEIR WEDDING IN THE VILLA PADIERNA HOTEL IN MARBELLA.

The mission was clear: to take the photos that best represented the most emblematic places in the Big Apple. The shoot that we did utilized some of the most iconic spots in Manhattan as scenes or as backdrops. This engagement photo shoot took three days. It couldn’t have been done any other way if we wanted to use some of the locations. As I’ve already mentioned before, our favourite time of day for these types of photographs is a few hours before sunset. With a nod to the film ´Manhattan´ by Woody Allen and being inspired by the poster for the film we headed for Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Bridge is one of the most famous identifying landmarks of New York and of course, it couldn’t be missing from our wedding photos.

Taking the photos from the Brooklyn side of the bridge allows you to use the magnificent Manhattan skyline with its characteristic buildings such as the Empire State Building or Chrysler Tower. DUMBO (an acronym of Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) is the wonderful part of Brooklyn at the end of the bridge. We took a lot of photos there too. It is beautiful by day, but even more so by night.

We spent ages taking photos at the top of the bridge which offers a very pretty view of the city. We challenged ourselves by trying to take some photos without anyone else being seen in the photos. In the end, we did it!!! Grand Central and Pershing Square were some other locations we used. Fifth Avenue, the National library, a subway stop….Really and truly, in Manhattan there is a photo on every corner.

A large part of this photo shoot was taken up by a photo session in Central Park. The enormous contrast between the vegetation and the huge chunks of concrete really caught my attention. Here, we also overcame the challenge and managed to find and shoot in a deserted Central Park. A walk through Greenwich Village also played another big part in the wedding photos. We finished in Grove Street, taking some shots in front of a building that was used in the T.V. series Friends to illustrate the apartment where history was made. I really enjoyed working on this Project. I discovered a couple of wonderful people to add to my list of friends. They are called Sandra and Marco.
