Post-wedding in Casares, Málaga.
The blessing that is the wind, post-wedding homage to the wind god.
Gloria and Raul have a risky strategy. The couple from Barcelona operate a special beach bar called “La Cubana” on the beach in Benalmadena, Malaga.
I needed to do something special for them and for quite a while I have been longing to do a photo shoot at the windmills that can be seen from my home, in the hills of Casares, Malaga.
Those who know me will tell you that I am a huge fan of American landscape photography and my trips to the USA are a big influence on my editing process. I have to say that the red soils of Utah, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico really capture my imagination. Also road trip movies are a source of inspiration for some of my work and editing processes.
The idea was to use the wind as the main character, or as least as a guest of honour in the photo shoot. We were lucky on the day and “Milly” made her presence felt, flying in that beautiful landscape, moving her blades, buzzing with a dizzying and magnificent symphony. Now I understand why Don Quixote confused them with giants. These contraptions (the windmills), especially the modern ones have always seemed fantastic, in the literal sense of the word. There they are, huge, powerful, and untouchable with their mysterious melody.
I assure you that the photo session had a fantastic, almost magical atmosphere. It wasn’t easy to work at the mercy of the wind who liked to mess up the newly-weds hair and outfits, but these photos are testament to the presence of the Wind God and its artistic contribution to this couple’s photo shoot.
